Does it hurt when I get hit by the ball?
No. We use only the best quality dodgeballs available made of foam. They will NOT hurt or leave you with bruises unlike the rubber balls used in elementary school.
-
I am new to dodgeball and I am somewhat intimidated. Should I still play?
604dodgeball always matches competing teams according to skill and athletic ability. It is natural to feel intimidated at first but after one or two games, everyone always realizes there is nothing to it! Dodgeball is one of the safest sports and is played in a controlled environment. Feel free to talk to any one of the 604dodgeball members or players about any concerns.
-
What do I wear for dodgeball?
Regular athletic wear and non marking shoes. We encourage teams to show their team spirit with their team logos, matching uniforms, headbands and wristbands!
-
Where can I get one of those cool 604dodgeball shirts?!
You’re in luck! We sell authentic 604dodgeball t-shirts made of high quality 100% pre-shrunk cotton. Shirts are $20 and come in sizes of S, M, L. Contact us if you are interested.

I don’t want to play competively. Why doesn’t 604dodgeball offer recreational divisions?
Dodgeball is undoubtedly a naturally competitive game, it is impossible to offer a recreational league and promise you will not play against very competitive or aggressive players. The good news is at 604dodgeball, we always reshuffle competing teams according to their wins therefore you will be playing teams at a similar skill and athletic ability throughout the season.
-
During a game, who is responsible for enforcing rules?
The players themselves. As dodgeball is based on the honor system, players are expected to understand and abide by the rules on their own. During games, team captains and players that are not playing are responsible to assist as referees. Team captains are responsible to assign a player to ref if he/she is unable to ref.
-
What happens when I don’t agree with the refs’ call?
Accept the call and get on with the game. If there is a controversy over a call, the referees are ultimately in charge and have the FINAL say. There are no exceptions to this rule. While explanations of a referee’s call may be legitimately sought afterwards, protesting the referee’s judgment is forbidden.
-
Our team wants to practice! Where can I buy used dodgeballs?
As 604dodgeball regularly buys new dodgeballs, we sell our used ones for $10 flat. Contact us if you are interested.
-
Can I slide over the line at the opening rush?
Players are only allowed to cross the centre line upon opening rush only. Sidelines are always in play.
-
If the ball bounces off me and flies into the air, can I still catch it and the “thrower” is out?
Yes, unless the ball becomes dead (meaning it has not hit the ground, wall, ceiling or another player), a player who catches a deflected ball from his/her body can eliminate the thrower.
-
Can I leave the court to get dodgeballs?
No. Players are not allowed to leave the court to retrieve balls. It is the job of refs to retrieve balls that are out of play. We also appreciate spectators lending a helping hand in retrieving balls.
-
If the ball hits a person and bounces off hitting a second person are both people out?
No. Only the first person that was hit with the ball is out.
-
If I block a thrown ball with my ball, but I drop my ball am I out?
Yes. You can use your dodgeball to block thrown balls, but if you drop it as a result of a thrown ball, you are out. If the thrown ball hits your dodgeball and then deflects and hits you, you are out.
-
Can we play other types of music during the games?
We welcome you to bring your IPOD as long as the music is appropriate and does not contain offensive or foul language.
-
Can I kick the ball?
No. Kicking a ball is for soccer players, a ball can only be thrown.
-
How does the exhibition, regular season, playoffs and tiering structure work?
Exhibition has a total of 10 games, regular season has 15 games. Playoffs are double elimination and best of 5 each round. Tier 1 starts at the later timeslot and Tier 2 starts at the earlier timeslot. After the exhibition week, teams are slotted to either Tier 1 or Tier 2 based on wins. Every 3 weeks, the top 3 teams from Tier 2 move up to Tier 1, and the bottom 3 teams from Tier 1 move down to Tier 2. Tier 1 wins are awarded 4 points, Tier 2 wins are awarded 3 points. Points are tallied for playoffs placement in either Tier 1 or Tier 2.
-
Are there prizes at the end of the season?
Medals will be awarded for the 1st place winners of the playoffs for Tier 1 and Tier 2. The SuperBall champions will also be awarded with something special!
